The Writer Producer Fund

Grants up to £10,000 for UK based songwriters and writer-producers who are working in popular music genres. This grant is new as of spring 2017 and is from the PRS in association with BASCA. 

Funding Criteria
  • Available to artists who perform but they must want to have a career as a songwriter. This fund will only cover money in development of songwriting careers.

  • You need to have a previous track record of success, with at least 3 commercially exploited works.

  • If you don’t have evidence of exploited works, you can give names of at least 5 credited works registered to PRS.

  • When apply you need to show that you are at a crucial point in your career, have a track record of getting cuts, co-writes and collaborations and are proactive about finding more. Also need to be clear in the kind of records you want to write and produce.

  • Need to be able to say how the money will be used and how it will help advance your career.

  • Production fees

  • Mix fees

  • Studio hire

  • Recording

  • Training/skill courses

  • Creative/professional development

  • Musician fees

  • Tracking

  • Purchase of equipment (up to 25% of costs)

  • Marketing and promotional costs

  • Uk writing space rental/lease

  • PR manager to help build profile as a songwriter

  • Maternity leave and child care

  • Some international activity
